From VMware to Omnissa: A Quick History

Horizon was originally developed by VMware (as VMware View, then VMware Horizon). In November 2023, Broadcom acquired VMware. In May 2024, Broadcom divested the entire End-User Computing (EUC) division — including Horizon and Workspace ONE — to KKR. The business was spun off and rebranded as Omnissa in 2024/2025. Licensing fully transitioned from VMware/Broadcom modules to the new Omnissa License Module (OLM) starting with the 2503 ESB release. All new development, support, and innovation now happens under the Omnissa brand.
